Abstract

The basic conditions of total body perfusion performed in the dogs by using Rygg-Kyvsgaard Heart
Lung Machine, Mark ¥³, Polystan, were total priming volume of Hartmanrs solution 1500¡2000§¦,
hemodilution 74.22§¦/§¸ in mean, average blood flow rate 62.6§¦/§¸/min, oxygen flow into the
oxygenator 3.5¡4.0L/min, oxygen consumption 2.97§¦/§¸/min, rectal temperature 36¢ª¡32¢ªC, and
duration of perfusion 60¡80 minute.
The effects of hemodilution perfusion by buffered Hartman¢¥s solution alone were studied with special
attention to the changes of serum electyolytes, blood urea nitrogen, and free plasma hemoglobin before,
during, and in 1¡3 days after perfusion.
1) Serum sodium was in the mean value of 145.2mEq/L before, 144.75mEq/L during, and
148.0mEq/l in 1¡3 days after perfusion.
2) Serim potassium was in the mean value of 4.0mEq/L before, 3.55mEq/L during, and 4.62mEq/L
in 1¡3 days after perfusion.
3) Serum choloride was in the mean value of 113.0mEq/L before, 110.5mEq/L during, and 118.0
mEq/L in 1¡3 days after perfusion.
4) Blood urea notrogen was in the mean value of 16.33§·% before, 16.38§·% during, and 12.93
§·% in 1¡3 days after perfusion. All the datas above mentioned appear to be within normal limits.
5) Free plasma hemoglobin was in the mean value of 30.6§·% during perfusion and 55.18§·%
at immediate postperfusion.
mEq/L in 1¡3 days after perfusion.
